CHAPTER SIXTEEN
It was pleasantly cool out when they glided through the marina and the harbour in near total silence; and getting lighter already even though it was not even four a.m. yet. Despite their initial explosive reaction to each other, Sara was pleased when Jordan suggested they stick to their original plan and sail out of there straight away. They could easily have headed down to her cabin after that earth-shattering first kiss, and probably spent the rest of the day there⦠Happily. But although they did not discuss it too deeply at this stage, they were both very much aware that this was the start of something special between them; precious. Not anything either Jordan or Sara wanted to rush into. And so, they resolved to take it slow, enjoy every second, and make it last.
âI really want to take you to Rhys Island anyway, I think youâll love it there,â Jordan declared. âAnd weâve got a full day ahead of us. So, plenty of time.â
She gave Sara one of those long liquid looks that held very little mystery, and plenty of promise. Sara was not sure whether she was even aware that she was doing it. Gorgeous and sexy seemed to come rather effortlessly to Jordan.
âWe could stay there all night too, if you wanted toâ¦â
âYes,â Sara murmured. âLetâs do that.â
âOkay,â Jordan smiled. âLetâs go.â
As soon as they were out into the bay, she put the main sail up and they sat together in the cockpit, all wrapped up in a light blanket and in each otherâs arms. The sea was calm and smooth with just enough of a small breeze to prevent having to use the engine, and with the auto-pilot on, there was very little to do except sit back and enjoy the ride. Sara dozed against Jordan for a while. She was feeling warm and fuzzy, fully content at last. Jordan herself was wide awake and she could not keep the smile off her face. Saraâs every touch, her every caress, the weight of her body pressed so comfortably against hers... It all felt pretty wonderful to her, both new and incredibly natural at the same time. Comforting and safe. Exciting and soothing. Forget about sleep, she decided; she did not want to miss a second of this experience. She looked down as Sara burrowed tighter into her chest, with her eyes still closed and a faint smile over her lips.
âYou okay?â she asked.
âOh, yesâ¦â Sara sighed. âI love this.â
I love you, Jordan reflected. She kept the thought to herself but it felt right. It rang true for her. She felt a stab of anxiety at the thought of allowing herself to dive deeper into this, what could only be described as the start of a brand-new relationship. She tensed quite noticeably and Sara glanced up at her. She rested a soft hand against the side of her neck. Just looking at her with a serious and searching expression on her face, as if she had been reading her thoughts.
